JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR August 12, 2009 James A (TX) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Sturdy and well made. runs great. looks great with jeans or a little dressier. and have banged it a little and hasn't scratched. love it.
A great watch for the $. September 12, 2009 Brett 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Worn this watch for two weeks straight now and I think its a wonderful watch. Time keeping is
excellent (it's lost two seconds in two weeks compared to my casio atomic). Easy to read dial (I hate
a dial cluttered up or numerals that aren't easily reconized at a glance). Sized right at 40mm (I
have small wrists but I like large watches, this is a great size for me). Pretty good lum. (after 6
hrs of darkness you can still pick up the time, though it will take a bit of focus) didn't expect
much for this price point.
Only dislike was the band, I prefer a nylon type strap. Found a good compromise with a replacement
timex expedition strap.
Terrific Value August 20, 2009 LDW (Ky) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
LUMINOSITY!!!!!!!!
I own 70+ watches and being able to see the time during low light or dark conditions is an important consideration. I admit most of my watches cost far more than this little Swiss Made gem, but only a couple of others can match its ability to be clearly seen in any lighting condition.
Well made, accurate, lightweight, oh yeah its 100 meter WR as well.
Note: I have few watches as small as this 40mm, but due to the thin bezel it plays much larger, now and then its about telling time and not about a fashion statement.
Very Impressive Watch and Great Price November 23, 2009 Andy (San Jose, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This watch is better than I thought it'd be. It's face is larger than most watches so it fits my wrist well. As for the price and all the other buyers complaining about the inflated retail price, yes the retail price is inflated, but the $55 I paid for this watch is well worth it. Go ahead and try finding a Victornox Swiss Army watch for under $80 anywhere else.
Very good knock-about watch January 4, 2010 J. A. Smith (Virginia Beach, VA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owned a Rolex and the Seiko 5 Series Sport watches, which had automatic movements, meaning the motion of your wrist kept them wound. I often didn't wear a watch during various weekend chores so it was a pain to have to keep resetting my watch Monday mornings getting ready for work. I just thought that buying an electric winder was just too much, so I opted to go to battery-powered quartz watches so I could take them off for maybe days at a time and they'd still be running when I picked them up.
I currently own a Seiko Quartz chronograph, which has an alarm feature that I love. After 5 years with my company, I got to select an anniversary gift from a catalogue, so I chose to get the Swiss Army 241083, aka the Garrison. I figured I'd wear it on the weekend as my "knock-about" watch, meaning I wouldn't be that upset if it got banged around a bit while doing yard work or working on my car. At first the "leather" band was kind of stiff, but after a week or so it feels just fine. After carefully measuring, I glued the extra loop on the band that keeps the end of the band from flopping around to a permanent position. Since I'm the only one who wears it, its position shouldn't have to change over the years. I went to a website for the US Naval Observatory and synchronized my watch to it. It has been over a month now, and as Mona Lisa Vito in My Cousin Vinny would say, it's "dead on balls accurate." Simply amazing.
I love the large display with its easy-to-read numbers, and the date window is large enough to see without a magnifying lens. I would highly recommend this watch to anyone looking for a good "tool" watch.
