The Exactly Of Pulsar Watches The first Pulsar watch was released into the market place in 1972 by the Hamilton Watch Company. The technology involved in this watch inspired a contemporary press report to describe the source of the watch name as "those strange distant spinning stars which send quick and regular radio bleeps from our space." So what exactly is a Pulsar? Well, in a few words, a Pulsar is actually the core of a collapsed star, that can rotate as quickly as 1,000 times a second. With each rotation, a pulsar sends out an extremely regular pulse of radio waves. These waves can be detected here on Earth by radio telescopes. These pulses provide an unmatched standard of timekeeping accuracy. In fact, this watch was the first of its kind: the digital display and the electronic quartz with a light emitting diode (LED) gave it a radically new space-age look. At that time, Pulsar watches were a huge hit and today those original watches are highly-prized collectors items. In time, the original boom diminished, but the Pulsar brand name had made its enduring impression worldwide. After a few years, in 1979, following a series of changes in brand ownership, Pulsar watches were introduced to the U.S. market by Seiko Corporation of America. This series, with new looks and new features, was the first full line of all-quartz mens' and ladies' wristwatches. This move was a huge success, so in 1980, the Pulsar brand was launched in the UK, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain and other European markets. The brand grew rapidly, as it did in the U.S. and today, Pulsar is a major brand in all European countries, as well as in Australia, Canada, Africa and Israel. More than twenty years after its first release, Pulsar carries further its heritage of technological excellence and outstanding design. Its latest creations are at the cutting edge of style and technology. Each and every Pulsar Watch is built to the highest standards of quality. As a trademark of Seiko Corporation - the world's leading maker of quality timepieces, one can rely on Pulsar's products and on their after sales service worldwide network. |

THE HISTORY OF WATCH The first timekeeping device was actually a pocket watch. After the railroad began using the pocket watch, the watch industry grew by leaps and bounds! With the invention of the wristwatch, watches became increasingly popular among professionals and everyday folk. The LED digital watch and the Pilot’s watch have taken the watch designs and functions to a whole new level. Your best bet is to hop online and view the many different styles, models and prices before you purchase another watch. The pocket watch is the oldest form of watch in production. Encrusted with jewel and made of the finest quality materials, the early pocket watches were not easily affordable. Eventually made into smaller versions and worn around the neck, the pocket watch was still mostly considered a fashion accessory. Using the pocket watch as a means to schedule train departures and arrivals, the pocket watch became a time telling necessity. Unfortunately, though, the early pocket watch models did not accurately tell time; they “lost” time as the day progressed, making it impossible to synchronize times among a group of people. Following a train collision, it was deemed that the pocket watch needed to undergo a technological improvement to tell time more accurately. |

Watches Fuction
All watches provide the time of day, giving at least the hour and minute, and usually the second. Most also provide the current date, and often the day of the week as well. However, many watches also provide a great deal of information beyond the basics of time and date. Some watches include alarms. Other elaborate and more expensive watches, both pocket and wrist models, also incorporate striking mechanisms or repeater functions, so that the wearer could learn the time by the sound emanating from the watch. This announcement or striking feature is an essential characteristic of true clocks and distinguishes such watches from ordinary timepieces. This feature is available on most digital watches.
A complicated watch has one or more functions beyond the basic function of displaying the time and the date; such a functionality is called a complication. Two popular complications are the chronograph complication, which is the ability of the watch movement to function as a stopwatch, and the moonphase complication, which is a display of the lunar phase. Other more expensive complications include Tourbilion. Perpetual, calendar, Minute repeater and Equation of time. A truly complicated watch has many of these complications at once (see Calibre 89 from Patek Philippe for instance). Among watch enthusiasts, complicated watches are especially collectible. Some watches include a second 12-hour display for UTC (as Pontos Grand Guichet GMT).The similar-sounding terms chronograph and chronometer are often confused, although they mean altogether different things. A chronograph has a stopwatch complication, as explained above, while a chronometer watch has a high quality mechanical or a thermo-compensated quartz movement that has been tested and certified to operate within a certain standard of accuracy by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres). The concepts are different but not mutually exclusive; so a watch can be a chronograph, a chronometer, both, or neither. |
